Little one, you grow so fast! What started out as a mad dash to get a clean pair of jammie-jams turned into a full mommy meltdown. Apparently, I have to accept the fact that too often I push past your 3 month outfits in the drawer. They far out number the clothes that actually fit you. Like the cute little dress you wore only one time (NB size) that still sits in the corner of your drawer. It's the same dress that none of your three older sister ever wore because they outgrew it too soon. I will cherish that one time you wore it forever, but alas it must join the overwhelming pile that is growing on the floor around me. Mommy is just not ready to see 6 month clothes yet, but you really need something to wear. I guess it would be faster to open the bag of clothes I had set aside just for you. Oh, I remember this outfit! It has gone through all three of your sisters. Wow it fits! Adorable! I wonder what else is in here. Gosh! This one with the butterfly on the bottom is too big still. Oh, you will look so cute in that one once it fits...
With each outfit bringing back a flood of memories, new ones will be made as you wear them & I will cherish them always. <3 Love, Mommy Trimming your newborns nails can be a daunting task.
Often, newborns have pretty long, sharp nails that will scratch their pretty little cherub cheeks if they aren't trimmed in some way. As a first time parent many years ago, I remember holding my precious babe while in the hospital and attempting to trim her nails, I got to the second tiny finger and clipped her. She was bleeding and I felt like the worse mother on the PLANET! After shedding some tears of my own I continued on and it happened again. I cried some more and gave up. I put some pretty little mittens on her and called it a day. What I didn't know is that baby's nails are fused to their skin on their fingers and toes. What does that mean? With kids and adults you can cut below the fingertips, with newborns you can not go below their fingertips or it will bleed. The easiest way to trim a baby's nails is to use a baby emery board (aka baby nail file.) Make sure baby is in a deep sleep. Press the baby's finger pad away from their nail and file gently. Make sure there are no jagged edges and try to keep the nails rounded. Voila! Your baby's manicure is complete. If you do choose to trim with nail clippers I recommend the baby safety clippers with the magnifying glass at the end. ;) If you do end up nicking baby with the clippers, don't worry, they will be alright! It's part of learning the art of trimming your baby's nails. Wash baby's finger in cool water, grab some gauze and apply pressure to the finger. Good luck on your newborn nail trimming adventure! With two kids and a busy schedule, I love it when I can find little things that make my life easier! Pinterest is one of my favorite sites for ideas. After untangling many necklaces from my daughters jewelry box, I found this idea below... A simple cork board, some push pins and voila! Organization and less fuss totally makes me happy :) I came across a blog with more life hacks for parents on the blog "Spit up is the new black"....click here for more helpful tips.

I sit here with my fourth daughter asleep in my arms, while your little girl cries uncontrollably. Just when you manage to get her to sleep, she makes a diaper, the nurse comes in to take vitals, she needs to nurse, needs to burp, or makes ANOTHER diaper. She needs mommy to comfort her. You are her mommy. Hard to believe right? You're a mommy!!! It wasn't that long ago that I was new to motherhood and terrified of all that it entails. Fact is, I am STILL terrified. Becoming a mom changes your whole perspective on life. Cliche, I know, but true enough. I have four girls. I am not an expert. I am not a child psychologist, nor do I have any kind of degree in child development. I am just like you, a mommy learning through experience. I am not perfect by any means. I make mistakes, and I learn from them. Just when I think I have this mom thing down, my girls make sure I get a reality check. I ask if you're ok. Your response is no surprise to me: "Yeah, I just don't know what I got myself into. I love her so very much." As a mommy, you never know what you are getting yourself into. Even after your second, or third, or FOURTH makes their appearance into this crazy world, you will feel like you don't know anything all. I'd like to reassure you, somehow, that it gets easier. It does... and it doesn't. Each new stage of parenthood has it's surprises, each child has their own personality quirks. Do I have advice? Uuum, YES!!! I can chat your ear off for hours on end about my amazing girls, my pregnancies, my deliveries, potty training, pre-school, picky eaters, hair tutorials on YouTube, Pinterest crafts, dollar store finds, and much more. I am a very proud mommy and love to share my experiences. But in all honesty, you don't really need to hear my stories or my opinions on how to raise your beautiful baby girl. Your motherhood is just beginning, and it is just that- YOURS. The only advice I will give to you is this: Don't let anyone take that right from you. Everyone has an opinion on how you should mother your child. Ultimately, you are the one who chooses to take the advice... or leave it. If it helps any, from what I can hear through the hospital curtain that divides our two worlds, you are already a wonderful mommy. Sincerely, The crazy mommy to 4 girls A Special thank you to my guest blogger who recently added a new addition to her beautiful family. <3
I must have read these books to my kids thousands of times. I can recite them all by heart :)
Here are a few of our favorite books.... Snoozers- a cute collection of short sleepy stories that my kids have loved for years. A Visitor for Bear- A persistent little mouse, a grumpy bear and a story of friendship. I'll always love you- A cute story of forgiveness and how we will always love our kids no matter what. Memoirs of a Goldfish- This book made me laugh out loud. I love the little bits of sarcasm. It is simply adorable, clever, and quite possibly my new favorite kids book. Mommy Hugs- A sweet story of affection for babies and toddlers. What are some of your favorite children's books?? "Let birth remind us that, with children, so little goes according to even the most well-drawn plan."-Tova Mirvis |
